Trust
I feel that I have covered this in a lot of fronts – Horatio is not a trusting person because he lacks all faith that anything he earns is not conditional. The only new thing I can stack on to this is that once Horatio believes in someone – once he truly believes that they are there for him and not his accomplishments, that they see the imposter facade for what it is and accept what lies beyond it, his loyalty knows no boundaries and he will do anything for that person. Including, but not limited to abandoning his country, retiring, committing treason, or straight up becoming a pirate.
