🍴🍴 Thomas Hamilton

{ Food Headcanons }

  • Thomas has – palate issues, in that certain consistencies can cause him incredible distress. This was true well before Bedlam, though afterward what could cause minor nauseated sensations is now certain to result in physical upheaval of a most violent and virulent nature. It is very upsetting to him and for this reason he tends to be very clear with people about what he can and cannot tolerate.

  • Thomas cannot hold his liquor for shit and he knows it. A heavy drink bears the fruit of a lascivious and giddy flirt who holds absolutely no understanding of shame or propriety. For this reason he abstains most firmly from drinking in good company, and will stick to mixed wine that has been watered down specially for him out of sight of guests.

🍴 Andre

{ Food Headcanons }

Andre is a menace in a kitchen, to the point that on his estate there was a ban not only in his own household but also in all establishments where he may be known to be party. Even the military cooks had heard of the curse over this man’s head and banished him from the mess tent entirely – he was welcome to eat with the other men in other areas, but was never permitted to be where food was being prepared and – frankly – he does not lament it one wit.

🍴🍴🍴 Weatherby

{ Food Headcanons }

  • As a man of refined quality, Weatherby considers himself something of a connoisseur of fine things – particularly of clothes and food. The former, of course, on account of his daughter ( far less embarrassing an admission than his own vanity! ) and the latter, truthfully, of a genuine fondness for anything savory and delectable.

  • Weatherby is an enormous fan of pastries and anything – everything – involving raspberries, which are his absolute favorite thing in the whole of the world he has thus far been exposed to. The perfect blend of tart and sweet by his estimation, they mix well with so many various dishes that he personally considers them the most versatile of berries. ( He is not correct, but who is going to tell him otherwise? )

  • An early hint of vegetarianism in our dear Weatherby – he abhors red meats and finds them to be too gamey for his tastes. He only partakes in chicken, quail, turkey and pheasant ( and there only the lighter portions of the meat ) or fish and eggs.

In tying with this headcanon concerning Hal’s collection of whittled figurines, it should be noted that all of these figures exist in a safe chest along with the rest of his valuable trade items that have been held in storage in lieu of gold and silver so that when it comes time for him to retire, he has legitimate means of establishing himself wherever he may go.

His box also contains five jade figures, each of which have the names of their person etched in on the bottom. The oldest two are a horse with the name of Rowland and a monkey with the name of Barnaby, after his two sons. He also has a goat for his third son, Billy, because he is no father at all if he is not equipped with copious and never ending dad jokes.

The final two figures are a very finely crafted turtle whose ornate shell bears hints of gold flecks in the grooves for Joji, and a small cat cleaning its paw for Flint. These are his most important and beloved people – so it stands to reason they would be represented as his most valuable artefacts. To Gates, they are the greatest treasures in his life both figuratively and literally.

🍴🍴 Gates

{ Food Headcanons }

  • Hal loves oysters – they are his favorite delicacy. Unfortunately for him, his hands fumble the damn things constantly, which means every time ( every single time! ) he tries to enjoy some bloody oysters, he ends up with literally bloody oysters from slicing his fingers or his palms! He considers it a cruel and twisted fate, and loves any soul who will shuck the damn things for him.
  • Hal has a method to cooking fish that is deeply favored among the crew – due to what is needed for it, they can only enjoy his pan fry when they are landed and supplies are plentiful. He claims it is all in the oil, but it’s actually the flour mixture he uses that brings out the flavor so favorably. It’s very mild – little more than pepper, salt, and a pinch of cajun spice with flour flipped hand to hand and fried in a spider ( a sort of pre-cast iron skillet propped up by sticks above the open fire [x] )

🎐 for Charles, Darcy, Jane, Jack, and Hal

{ Unusual Questions }
🎐- Does your muse like to collect/hoard anything?

image

Despite being a pirate, Charles is actually not attached to material objects. These sorts of things can be taken and destroyed, and he has enough going on in his life to find the idea of getting torn up over things to be a waste of his resources and energy.

To this end then, it is safe to say that what Charles Vane collects is in fact people – individuals who he believes he can trust to uphold the ideals that matter to him, and prove themselves to be loyal to those ideas even if it means crossing lines that the civilized would balk before.

Mr. Darcy has benefited greatly from the natures of his ancestors who collected great works of art – from sculptures to portraits of the most grand design. His life has always been couched in luxury, which has in turn instilled upon him a rather marked lack of interest in collecting more. When he does go out of his way to gather items, it is usually gifts for his sister and those few who can count themselves among his friends.

Jane collects letters – from all over the world, from friends and benefactors, from allies and enemies. Most important to her are letters intercepted from her family back home – it has allowed her to thwart the Beckett sons again and again – but there is one among them she cannot bear, and one day she seeks to correct the lie it has told – the story of her own death, a blatant lie delivered to her brother Cutler, the only man in the Beckett line whom she adores.

Jack would like to collect fine things, but he has a terrible habit of losing them, or trading them, or exchanging them to save someone who won’t even say thank you. So while he certainly has the desire and the drive to be a hoarder, he simply does not possess the means to keep what he acquires, for one reason or another.

Whittled figures from the men. He has a small collection of pieces, and when a man dies in battle, storm, or illness, he carves their name on the piece to immortalize a memory of them. Those who cannot whittle, or have never gifted him a piece, he purchases a small figure to represent in the wake of their death – or in some cases, so they are represented among the crowd.

This is a permanent starter call for Fitzwilliam Darcy, of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, based off the original novel and various adaptations.

These calls give me a heads up on who is open to interacting with whom ( which is handy for those who have exclusives among my crew! ) and gives me an excuse to kick you starters whenever something crosses the mind, or blow up your inbox knowing who would be most wanted.

“I dare say none of us could qualify as an expert but at least one of us cares about sanitation enough.” he grumbled back. As per usual, the bickering between the two was constant, William not able to shut up when the Sparrow opened his mouth yet there was no bite or cruel intention to his words.

He sighed through his nose, dark eyebrows furrowing in concentration as he focused on the wound once again, after cleaning it thoroughly and managing to cease the bleeding. He was patching it safely now, thankful that the pirate had ceased his endless movement in aid to his actions. The faster he would finish it, the sooner he could leave Sparrow alone to move as much as he wanted.

He grasped his shoulders to force him to look further once again, almost rolling his eyes at the man’s attitude before focusing on finishing the patching. “It has not, trust me. It isn’t big enough. It might leave a scar but not enough to affect the ink.” he assured and furrowed his eyebrows. The colours were a new discovery of sorts for the young man, not a common view in Port Royal. “Where have you gotten them?”

@oceanfoamed

Jack supposed he had to hand that one to the lad – there were few on the seas who could be counted as experts and nearly all of them were in the employ of the Navy or the Company, neither of which were particularly partial toward aiding wounded pirates nearly as much as they were to causing the wounds themselves.

In recognition of Turner’s wit Jack opted to offer him no argument – a signal of truce if nothing else, at least for the present standing moment. He could have done without quite so much manhandling, but as it was he did face forward without complaint, which was a greater obedience than he offered to most – though of course, it simply benefited him best at the moment to be agreeable.

He was appeased, therefore, when Turner confirmed there was no damage to his ink. Enough so that he relaxed slightly enough the question received an almost straightforward reply. “All over, back mostly.” It occurred to him then the whelp might have meant where in the world, at which point, he laughed a bit at his own unintended wit, then, “A town in the Bahamas for that piece – why, thinking of getting some yourself?” That’d be something he’d damn near pay to see.  Â
