“You’ve consumed my waking days.” [ for ghost!gates ;H; ]

“Oh I’m so sorry my being dead has proven itself an inconvenience for you!” There were times when haunting Flint was almost – peaceful. Not so much because anything in the damn fool’s life resembled peace – but because being a ghost meant he didn’t have to do a damn thing about it. Life carried on without him, getting steadily worse – and with the increase in mad schemes, his frustrations had begun to mount.

What had been a cause for contentment fast became a curse. He wanted to help. To redirect the course. To do something, anything, but stand by and watch the world catch fire in the wake of one man’s grief. He’d begun expending conserved energy, showing himself as much as he could, trying to make some kind of connection, some kind of fucking impact – and all he’d done, in the end, was scare the fuck out of Joji ( who noticed him more than anyone else on this damned crew – including his bloody target! Hell, there were times when he felt Joji saw him when he wasn’t aiming to be seen, and that was just plain eeriie. )

Now, finally, he had both the strength and the attention to communicate and this ridiculous sea cow was blubbering at him like he didn’t cause this particular problem in the first place! “Maybe if I was alive I could be more helpful but thanks to someone I’m a little too fucking dead at the moment.”

What he would give for the power to sigh dramatically. Sadly, he hadn’t quite figured out how to do the whole breathing thing as a ghost yet.

In the end though, he did deflate. He hated it. This was the last thing he should be doing. “You’re stuck with me. So what can I do, if not listen?”
