đŸšȘ Tap on a table/door/wall/chair to get my muse’s attention without speaking | Joji to Muharrem

{ Nonverbal Starters }

Irritation coiled through him as he glanced over – though as soon as he realized it was one of Nassau’s local residents, his posture shifted and a notable calm touched upon his features. He was fast growing weary of matters here, though there was little he could do at this juncture without due cause. For now the best he could manage was to simply steer clear of his employer and the bloodthirsty like-minded that stood in his shadow.

“Yes,” He acknowledged the other’s announcement, gaze intent as he tried to place the man. He knew he had seen him before – there was no mistaking such notable features, not to mention someone so impossibly tall. It was who he had been with, and therefore his affiliations, that Muharrem was failing to recall. “Is there something I can help you with?”

👁 Wake my muse up during a nightmare | William to Muharrem?

{ Nonverbal Starters }

Coming to with a jolt, it does not take Muharrem long to register where he is and who has woken him. His chest rises and falls rapidly, the emotions dragged to the fore by his subconscious mind chained back behind the cage of his teeth, held at bay through force of will and recognition that here was neither the time nor the place to voice them.

Realizing that in his initial alarm he had grasped hold of his superior officer, he had the good grace to flush and release the lieutenant from his grip. Taking a steadying breath, he offered an apologetic smile. “Sorry, sir. I didn’t mean to be disruptive.”

Sitting up slowly, he ran a shaky hand through his hair, before sighing and deciding he might as well make use of being awake this early. “Would you object to Travers getting a lie in? I can cover his shift, seeing as I’m up.” With the strain on everyone due to the captain’s brewing madness and his vindictive treatment of Wellard, those who were of gentler constitutions deserved to be watched over in whatever small ways could be managed, as far as he was concerned.

đŸ’Ș Pick my muse up | JOJI TO MUHARREM A;LSDJF

{ Nonverbal Starters }

He was only vaguely aware of being lifted from the deck upon which he had fallen, his blood mingling with that of ally and foe alike as the battle raged on around him. He could hear the clashing of swords as if they were in the distance, rather than mere feet away – the sounds were dying down now, the turn of the tide in their favor by the time he had been struck low.

Pain pierced and ebbed in the same tandem as a drum, seeming in one moment tolerable only to lance in the following beat. His body draped in the arms of another, Muharrem’s last truly coherent thought was a minor twinge of contempt for his opponent coming up from behind – if he were to die on the blade of a coward, his soul may never find rest. He had no choice – he would simply have to live.

This is a permanent starter call explicitly for my original character, Muharrem “Matthew” Ben Ali. Anyone who is interested in interacting with a midshipman whose service aboard the Vanguard ended when Nelson left with Hardy, feel free to let me know.

Muharrem is fully integrated into the Hornblower verses set upon the blog, but easily interchanged to be set aboard the Surprise.

These calls give me a heads up on who is open to interacting with whom (which is handy for those who have exclusives among my crew! ) and gives me an excuse to kick you starters whenever something crosses the mind, or blow up your inbox knowing who would be most wanted.

These calls also serve as a final tag dump – when this call is posted it indicates a character has been fully moved into the blog and is ready for action!
