šŸ“šŸ“šŸ“ Weatherby

{ Food Headcanons }

  • As a man of refined quality, Weatherby considers himself something of a connoisseur of fine things – particularly of clothes and food. The former, of course, on account of his daughter ( far less embarrassing an admission than his own vanity! ) and the latter, truthfully, of a genuine fondness for anything savory and delectable.Ā

  • Weatherby is an enormous fan of pastries and anything – everything – involving raspberries, which are his absolute favorite thing in the whole of the world he has thus far been exposed to. The perfect blend of tart and sweet by his estimation, they mix well with so many various dishes that he personally considers them the most versatile of berries. ( He is not correct, but who is going to tell him otherwise? )

  • An early hint of vegetarianism in our dear Weatherby – he abhors red meats and finds them to be too gamey for his tastes. He only partakes in chicken, quail, turkey and pheasant ( and there only the lighter portions of the meat ) or fish and eggs.Ā

{ Food Headcanons }

  • Hal loves oysters – they are his favorite delicacy. Unfortunately for him, his hands fumble the damn things constantly, which means every time ( every single time! ) he tries to enjoy some bloody oysters, he ends up with literally bloody oysters from slicing his fingers or his palms! He considers it a cruel and twisted fate, and loves any soul who will shuck the damn things for him.Ā
  • Hal has a method to cooking fish that is deeply favored among the crew – due to what is needed for it, they can only enjoy his pan fry when they are landed and supplies are plentiful. He claims it is all in the oil, but it’s actually the flour mixture he uses that brings out the flavor so favorably. It’s very mild – little more than pepper, salt, and a pinch of cajun spice with flour flipped hand to hand and fried in a spider ( a sort of pre-cast iron skillet propped up by sticks above the open fire [x]Ā )Ā

šŸŽ for Charles, Darcy, Jane, Jack, and Hal

{ Unusual Questions }
šŸŽ- Does your muse like to collect/hoard anything?Ā

image

Despite being a pirate, Charles is actually not attached to material objects. These sorts of things can be taken and destroyed, and he has enough going on in his life to find the idea of getting torn up over things to be a waste of his resources and energy.Ā

To this end then, it is safe to say that what Charles Vane collects is in fact people – individuals who he believes he can trust to uphold the ideals that matter to him, and prove themselves to be loyal to those ideas even if it means crossing lines that the civilized would balk before.Ā

image

Mr. Darcy has benefited greatly from the natures of his ancestors who collected great works of art – from sculptures to portraits of the most grand design. His life has always been couched in luxury, which has in turn instilled upon him a rather marked lack of interest in collecting more. When he does go out of his way to gather items, it is usually gifts for his sister and those few who can count themselves among his friends.Ā

image

Jane collects lettersĀ – from all over the world, from friends and benefactors, from allies and enemies. Most important to her are letters intercepted from her family back home – it has allowed her to thwart the Beckett sons again and again – but there is one among them she cannot bear, and one day she seeks to correct the lie it has told – the story of her own death, a blatant lie delivered to her brother Cutler, the only man in the Beckett line whom she adores.Ā

image

Jack would like to collect fine things, but he has a terrible habit of losing them, or trading them, or exchanging them to save someone who won’t even say thank you. So while he certainly has the desire and the drive to be a hoarder, he simply does not possess the means to keep what he acquires, for one reason or another.Ā

image

Whittled figures from the men. He has a small collection of pieces, and when a man dies in battle, storm, or illness, he carves their name on the piece to immortalize a memory of them. Those who cannot whittle, or have never gifted him a piece, he purchases a small figure to represent in the wake of their death – or in some cases, so they are represented among the crowd.

āœ‹ TF’s Edward to Horatio

{ Touch Starved Meme }

Horatio could not have said how long he had stood looking out over the sea as the waves crashed in against the cliffside. He had known that between Napoleon and Tia Dalma his hands would be sure to mire themselves in blood once more – but he had forgotten for a time how truly unforgiving war could be. Though they were no longer men of the crown, living as pirates did not change the fact that the war between France and the rest of the world could leave them untouched.Ā

He had known – even as he had called upon the water he had known some part of him would lament his choice. Fury had been cold in his breast as he had pressed his palms against the bleeding chest of one of the Indefatigable’sĀ gun masters, the sound of canon blast deafening as the screams and groans of men both terrified and dying rose up around him.Ā

They had been outmanned and outgunned from the start, but short of magic there had been no escaping the fight. At first Horatio thought they might have evened the odds – but as it became clear no honest men could win this fight, he had done what needed to be. Tia Dalma’s instructions were clear – and he could not afford to lose the Indy or her crew.Ā

He had meant to draw them away – impossibly so upon wave and wind that didn’t touch another ship. It was not the usual working, and his recollection of the spell was limited at best. In the end, the Indy had suddenly surged away from the battle and toward the coast – and waves incredible in height had crashed against their enemies, devastating their ships and overturning them.Ā

In the wake of it, the men were shaken and Horatio had not missed the way Matthews seemed to know who the responsible party was.Ā The Indy had anchored safely, parties rushing ashore for supplies and the desperate need to hide their panic while still more stayed aboard to work on repairs and assisting the wounded.Ā

Though Horatio knew he ought to be part of the latter, having worked a magic so powerful he had ultimately drawn off to settle his spirit and come to terms with the devastating aftermath. And to wonder how many of his own men he might have spared if only he had been brave enough to act sooner.Ā

A firm, calloused hand slid into his own and drew him away from all of it. From horrible contemplation and guilt – for those dead unintentionally, to those dead because he had not killed sooner – to the simple act of comfort presently being offered to him, sure and steady as the man who offered it.

Turning as the wind drew upon his hair, whipping it over his shoulder and making a banner of the curly lengths, Horatio examined Edward quietly for any sign of what he might be thinking. In the end, he stepped forward, shielding himself from the wind by shifting to his knees before the man and bowing his head in a display of surrender even as he held on to the anchor of his captain’s hand.Ā

It was not judgement that he feared. In truth, Horatio’s heart was calm – his surrender an act of choice. With his strength gone, it was his display of trust and vulnerability both, letting it be known that he was not well – and showing that he believed in Edward enough to let the man stand for him, when he himself could not.Ā

😶 | TV’s Joji to Thomas

{ Touch Starved Meme }

image

The pressure of another person leaning against him is not so unfamiliar as it used to be. In a world that was obsessed with making islands of men, touch was deemed an intimate affair as opposed to the natural order of social creatures. In the plantation, such ridiculous customs were not observed and the importance of physical contact to comfort weary spirits was often enacted.Ā

Now, safely aboard the Ranger, Thomas found that pirates were wise as slaves, and saw no need to ignore the importance of interactions such as these – and the thought brought a smile to his lips as he turned to Joji and let his appreciation be seen. There was no need for words at the moment, and that in and of itself was a comfort too.

😶 | TF’s Joji to Abigail when she seems to be feeling down or upset

{ Touch Starved Meme }

The warm sensation of his presence has kept her steady for long enough now that she doesn’t stiffen anymore when he gets close. Between how often he has helped her weather storms, to the way he has maneuvered her in their training together, she has grown familiar with the touch of his hands and the feel of his side pressing against her. She has even come to know the feel of his arms when they enfold her for additional security when the world gets to be too much, and she has never known a hug more gentle and kind than his.Ā

Her mother had feather light touches that were more performance than embrace, and her father had a way of gathering her up so tight and so close she thought she’d stop breathing and yet, she never failed to feel safe in his arms. With Joji, it was as if the best of both their hugs and something a bit more came into play – all the security of her father, all the gentleness of her mother, and all the great and unwavering kindness that was Joji himself.Ā

Perhaps it was thoughts like these that made her an odd girl, but it was also thoughts like these that made her accomplished in her craft so she couldn’t really decry them. Sighing slightly, she shifted so that she could rest more securely against her friend, wishing these days of melancholia would leave her. She knew it was all about time – about patience – but it bothered her to feel so strong one day, and so weak the next with only the strangest thing to set her off.Ā Ā

ā€œI don’t know what I would have done, if you hadn’t found me when you did,ā€ She confessed softly,Ā ā€œYou’ve made life infinitely more bearable – and I really don’t think I thank you enough for it.ā€Ā

šŸ’Ŗ | TF’ Armando to Jack

{ Touch Starved Meme }

It was difficult to tell what was the more alarming sensation, really. The sudden drop in the pit of one’s stomach when fingers slip their hold or the more forceful thrust of a shoulder into said stomach when snatched out of the air and tossed over it like a kitten plucked from a heavy breeze.Ā

Catching his bearings, Jack was just about to say something when the world shifted rather suddenly, and his position went from potato sack to bride. For a moment, he simply stared before he laughed and slung a lazy arm over Armando’s broad shoulders. {{ You know, there are easier ways to sweep a man off his feet, }} He teased, as if the captain hadn’t just saved him from a most unwanted swim.Ā

😶 | TF’s Joji to Charles

{ Touch Starved Meme }

The lean up against his side earns a look, but as soon as he recognizes who it is, there is an ease to which his body relaxes and presses back against the other. There were not many who could get away with sliding up against him like this, but Joji was among the select few whom Charles felt comfortable enough with to have within his physical sphere.Ā

He didn’t say anything – companionable silence was to be expected with this man in particular, and after a night spent listening to Jack talk circles around everyone in the room, only to get challenged by Gates, who built walls with his words that Jack and Eleanor then maneuvered up and over and around – silence was a much desired and needed respite at the moment.Ā

šŸ’“šŸ’“šŸ’“šŸ’“šŸ’“ and finally, lots of hearts for Muharrem

{ Learn To Make A Heart Flutter }

  1. Be contrasting. Muharrem is attracted to people who stand out among their fellows for various reasons. Be it a controversial political stance, an unusually soft personality, a unique physical trait, or what have you – if it is something that differentiates you from the masses in some way it is likely to be something Muharrem will like most about you – especially if that thing happens to get you into a lot of trouble or is something you seem to dislike in yourself.

  2. Know humility. In a world where men are constantly bragging about their connections to better, more accomplished men and making grand claims of their own capacities, men who have both shown themselves to be skillful and yet remain humble and grounded in spite of their capabilities will always be more attractive to Muharrem than the latter. He considers using the names and accomplishments of others as a means to climb socially to be the height of disingenuous behaviour, and has no time for such individuals.

  3. Engage him in conversation. Muharrem tends to keep to himself more often than not, going about his duties quietly and often eating while working just to avoid figuring out where he might be welcome. Taking the initiative to show interest in him will indicate to Muharrem that you are tolerant and open minded, which will win you his favor swiftly. He thrives on private discussions and will generally imprint on those who engage him, thus resulting in him making efforts to approach on his own terms, and building a rapport.Ā

  4. Show interest in his art. Muharrem does henna work for anyone who sees fit to commission it, and the more one does so the more likely it will be that Muharrem will approach and offer to do work for free in order to practice, or try out a new design. As it is slow and painstaking work, it generates time for discussion and can be a fairly intimate affair, which tells Muharrem you are comfortable in his presence and that you are a person he can call a friend. Being his friend is the surest way to becoming something more.

  5. Flirt with him. Muharrem will be startled, certainly, but he will respond in kind and make something of a game of it. He is quite open with such behaviour so depending on the verse one might have to be careful in taking the direct method.

šŸ’“šŸ’“ for Horatio!

{ Learn To Make A Heart Flutter }

  1. Be woefully unobtainable. Horatio has – an affinity for older men, which is a problem both on account of puritan stances during the time, as well as the slope in play with age differences in general. In truth, Horatio has always been too old for his youth and often finds those within his age range to be irksome and naive in ways that are difficult to tolerate. He is aware that he has – a rather particular approach, and a need for patience as a result of it that he finds does not appear to be all that common in younger men.Ā

    What is more, Horatio is primarily attracted to success, and people who are both undeniable survivors as well as people who have clear and definitive moral structures. Due to his intimate familiarity with death and failure, it is those who stand testament to their capacity to rise against adversity that draw his attention and keep it. The chances of losing these people are diminished on account of their own strengths, and that is a stability to which Horatio desperately cleaves.Ā Ā

  2. Kiss him. Horatio has – a lamentable habit of convincing himself that his attraction is unwarranted and unwelcome. Considering his attractions fall toward older, accomplished men in a time where such affections could result in hanging, that’s relatively fair.

    That said, he can be oblivious to flirtations in a bad way – which is why, generally speaking, the fastest and most surefire way to make your intentions upon him known is to simply kiss him.

    While he will undoubtedly have questions afterward, he is guaranteed to melt almost instantly, and is very likely to cling like a barnacle to ensure you don’t abandon him the moment it’s time for air – and reflection on choices.Ā
